Sendero de Los Quetzales (Quetzal Trail)
Starting from Bajo Grande, Cerro Punta, just 40 km (1 hour) from Birding Paradise, the Quetzal Trail winds through lush highland forest at 2,000 m.a.s.l. Over 400 bird species have been spotted here, including the Resplendent Quetzal, Yellow-thighed Brushfinch, Fiery-throated Hummingbird, Ornate Hawk-Eagle, Silvery-throated Jay, and the Black-and-Yellow Silky-flycatcher.

Parque Internacional La Amistad (International Park of Friendship)
Located in Las Nubes, Cerro Punta, about 41 km (1 hour) from Birding Paradise, this UNESCO World Heritage Site sits at 2,200 m.a.s.l. and offers easy trails through pristine cloud forest. With more than 400 bird species recorded, it’s a hotspot for the Resplendent Quetzal, Ochraceous Pewee, Wrentrush, Silvery-fronted Tapaculo, Costa Rican Pygmy-Owl, Scintillant Hummingbird, and many more.

Lagunas de Volcán (Volcán Lagoons)
At 1,200m altitude in Volcán, Chiriquí, the lagoons provide an easy walk in a peaceful wetland setting.
With 102 bird species recorded, it’s a prime spot for Masked Duck, Purple Gallinule, Least and Pied-billed Grebes, Olive-crowned Yellowthroat, Costa Rican Brushfinch, and other waterfowl and marsh specialists.

Volcán Barú (Barú Volcano)
Rising to 3,475m above sea level, the highest point in Panama, Volcán Barú offers easy-access trails and unique high-altitude birding just outside the town of Volcán. With over 250 species recorded, highlights include Volcano Junco, Sooty Thrush, Timberline Wren, Dusky Nightjar, Spangle-cheeked Tanager, Bare-shanked Screech-Owl, and the Golden-browed Chlorophonia.
